Paul joined Strix Aero in 2022 and has quickly become the leader in several key areas of the engine overhaul process. His vast experience as a trained mechanic and technician with safety critical complex aerospace systems in military UAVs, Rolls-Royce turbine engines and more.... has proven him to have a rare balance of attention to detail, technical expertise and problem solving skills. In his first year has has overhauled all sub-components of numerous Allison 1710 engines and knows the manuals, and the details of every critical interface in these engines. He's also developed information tracking and reporting systems and procedures that ensure our overhaul processes stay consistent and become more efficient.
A brief summary of Paul's background:
- Grew up on a ranch near a small town in northern Arizona where he discovered his ability to deconstruct and figure out how things work. Most of his hobbies involved fixing engines in everything from cars to RC airplanes.
- After high school he joined the US. Marine Corps as and Aviation Mechanic for 5.5 years finishing as a Quality Control Chief in the UAV Squadron.
- Textron field service engineer for 11.5 years managing other engineers in 8 UAV military units across 5 states. 8 of those years were spent mostly in combat theatre around the world.
- Got married, started a family and lived in the UK for 6 years working as a self employed Auto Mechanic, electrical technician on high voltage train systems for Bombardier, control board systems engineer, and as a lead technician for Rolls-Royce in Derby on their largest test cells.
- For Rolls-Royce, Paul became the one who could Repair, optimize and implement new complex control systems of any kind in a variety of their most advanced test cells and environmental chambers.
- Paul lives on a farm with many acres of land where he enjoys hobby farming with his wife Kelly and their 3 young girls.
